A Legacy of Labor and Community
This Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025, the streets of Wilmington will once again echo with chants, cheers, and brass bands as the 46th Annual Labor Solidarity Parade & Picnic Rally makes its powerful return. Organized by local unions and community coalitions, the event celebrates the ongoing struggles—and triumphs—of working people throughout Southern California.
Beginning with an early morning assembly at Broad and E Street, the parade steps off at 10:00 a.m., winding through Wilmington’s heart with banners held high and spirits even higher. It’s more than just a march—it’s a show of strength, unity, and shared history.
Picnic and Rally at Banning Park
Following the parade, attendees are invited to Banning Park (1331 Eubank Ave) for an afternoon picnic and rally that blends activism with celebration. From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (with many staying as late as 4:00), the park transforms into a community fairground complete with union booths, speeches from labor leaders, and family-friendly activities.
Live music will fill the air, headlined by the Suave Band, a local favorite known for their energetic mix of Latin and funk. Kids can enjoy a dedicated zone with games and activities, while everyone is welcome to complimentary hot dogs and drinks. Shuttle service is provided to ensure accessibility for all.
Why It Still Matters
In a time of rising costs, automation, and continued fights for fair wages and benefits, the need for labor solidarity remains as urgent as ever. This event is not just a celebration—it’s a reminder. It connects generations of workers and highlights the role unions play in advocating for equity, safety, and respect in the workplace.
With recent national headlines about strikes, organizing efforts, and new labor protections, this year’s rally promises to echo a broader movement sweeping across industries—from logistics and hospitality to education and healthcare.
Get Involved and Show Up
Whether you're part of a union or just someone who believes in justice and community, this is an event worth attending. Bring your family, meet your neighbors, and stand in solidarity with the people who keep our city running every day. It's a reminder that when workers rise, we all rise.
