WomenShelter of Long Beach transformed MacArthur Park into a gathering place for wellness, education and community support on Saturday morning. Staff arrived early to set up canopies, tables and informational displays while vendors and nonprofit organizations prepared to welcome visitors throughout the day.
The event quickly developed into more than a traditional resource fair. Families walked from booth to booth, children participated in activities, music filled the park and conversations began between residents and organizations that exist to help strengthen the community.
Among the organizations participating was the Long Beach Police Department, which joined other partners in sharing information and answering questions. The atmosphere felt approachable and welcoming, creating opportunities for people to connect without the pressure often associated with seeking assistance.
