Japanese Classic Car Show Celebrates 20 Years in Long Beach

From skyline GT-Rs to vintage Datsuns, JCCS returns to Marina Green Park with a shoreline full of Japanese automotive icons

A Historic Milestone for Japanese Car Culture

The Japanese Classic Car Show (JCCS) is turning 20 this year, and Long Beach is once again its proud home. On October 11, 2025, Marina Green Park will transform into a haven for vintage import enthusiasts, drawing collectors, restorers, and car fans from across the West Coast.

Free and open to the public, the waterfront show is expected to feature hundreds of Japanese vehicles from the 1960s through the 1990s. Nissan Skylines, Toyota Celicas, Mazda rotaries, Honda Civics, and rare kei cars will all take their places along the shoreline—polished, documented, and celebrated.

Why Long Beach Matters to JCCS

Long Beach has hosted JCCS since its early years, and Marina Green Park—set between Rainbow Lagoon and the Pacific—offers one of the most scenic backdrops in the car show world. The event’s founders, Koji and Terry Yamaguchi, cite the location as part of what makes the gathering so beloved.

“You get the ocean breeze, palm trees, and rows of perfectly restored Japanese classics all in one place,” said one returning attendee. “It’s more than a car show—it’s a reunion of people who’ve kept the culture alive.”

Beyond the Cars: Vendors, Culture, and Community

JCCS isn’t just a static display—it’s a cultural immersion. Dozens of booths sell JDM parts, vintage gear, scale models, and collectibles. Live DJ sets keep the mood lively while food vendors dish up Japanese comfort foods and local eats. For many, it’s a family tradition.

Workshops and meetups are planned throughout the day, from tuning talk panels to paint restoration demos. And for Instagrammers and photographers, the golden-hour lighting by the marina turns these cars into art.

A National Scene with Local Roots

As Japanese classic car values continue to rise nationwide, events like JCCS become more than regional get-togethers. They’re time capsules—and touchstones—for generations of enthusiasts. From early Japanese-American families who brought these cars over in the '70s, to younger fans discovering them on TikTok, the culture remains deeply multigenerational.
