A citywide celebration returns with more sparkle
On December 3, 2025, Long Beach will once again flip the switch on its 67-foot Christmas tree during the 11th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Terrace Theater Plaza. The tradition, now a cornerstone of the city's holiday calendar, draws thousands to witness the transformation of downtown into a winter wonderland.
Hosted by the Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau and the city, this year’s free public event includes festive live music, a full performance of The Nutcracker by Long Beach Ballet, and even falling snow. The towering tree will be lit with over 500,000 sparkling lights, serving as a beacon of celebration visible from blocks away.
Santa sightings, fireworks, and family moments
Children and families can expect surprise visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, a holiday train ride for little ones, and photo-ready backdrops throughout the plaza. The event concludes with a brief fireworks display and artificial snowfall, turning the Terrace Plaza into a scene straight out of a postcard.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as festivities begin with pre-show entertainment and caroling. This year, RSVP tickets were free but went fast—underscoring the event’s growing popularity.
The spirit of giving: toy drive for local families
In addition to the dazzling display, the event features a charitable component through the Spark of Love Toy Drive. Guests are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to support children and families in need during the holiday season. Collection bins will be set up throughout the venue. Event Details
