Experience Long Beach’s premier marine sanctuary in a whole new light. On Friday, October 31, the Aquarium of the Pacific will open its doors after dark for a ticketed evening like no other — blending oceanic calm, ambient lighting, and rare nighttime views of sharks, sea jellies, and other sea life.
Discover the Ocean by Night
For three hours only — from 7:30 PM to11:00 PM — guests will explore the Aquarium’s galleries as twilight descends on Long Beach. Without the daytime crowds, this after-hours event offers a rare opportunity to take in the exhibits at your own pace, surrounded by tranquil lighting and the soft hum of underwater life. It’s a striking contrast from the usual buzz of weekend family outings — and that’s by design.
From the towering glass of the Shark Lagoon to the hypnotic movements in the jellyfish tanks, every exhibit seems to transform under low light. Whether you're an ocean enthusiast, photographer, or just in need of a peaceful Friday night escape, this event offers a serene window into the deep.
Perfect for a Date Night or Solo Retreat
Visitors are encouraged to stroll the aquarium's pathways with a drink in hand — a cash bar will be open for guests 21 and over. The vibe is slow, chill, and tuned for grownups. While the event is open to all ages, it’s ideal for couples, friend groups, and locals who want to experience the aquarium without the daytime bustle.
Live ambient music is expected to accompany the evening, enhancing the atmosphere without overpowering it. The lighting has been curated specifically for this event, highlighting the reflective blues and greens of each tank while keeping pathways safely illuminated.
Tickets and What to Expect
Tickets are required and space is limited. Advanced purchase is recommended, as these evening events often sell out. General admission includes access to all major exhibits, though animal feedings and shows may be paused during this time to keep noise and movement to a minimum.
Food options will be available on site, though guests are also encouraged to explore nearby restaurants before or after their visit. Parking is available at the aquarium structure and is validated with event attendance.
