Whispers in the Walls Returns to the Haunted Halls of Bembridge House

Enter Subtitle

Every October, when the air gets crisp and the sun dips early, something ancient stirs in the heart of Long Beach. On October 4, 2025, the beloved “Whispers in the Walls” haunted tour returns to the historic—and notoriously haunted—Bembridge House, offering guests a chilling experience that blurs the line between the living and the long departed.

Built in 1906, the Bembridge House has long been a jewel of Victorian architecture and a magnet for ghost stories. From creaking floorboards to unexplained cold spots, the home carries whispers of its past in every room. For one special evening, these whispers become voices as guests are led through candlelit corridors and shadowy parlors on an immersive, spine-tingling tour.

A Long Beach Halloween Staple

Locals know that no October is complete without a night at the Bembridge House. “Whispers in the Walls” has become a Halloween staple, drawing both curious newcomers and brave return visitors. Guided by costumed docents and filled with atmospheric storytelling, each tour paints vivid scenes of past residents, mysterious disappearances, and the home's long, layered history.

It's not a jump-scare kind of haunted house. Instead, it's a slow, cinematic unraveling—a ghost story come to life within one of Long Beach’s oldest and most iconic homes.

What Makes Bembridge House So Haunted?

The house’s storied past adds weight to the legends. Once the residence of Dorothy Bembridge, a local arts patron who lived—and died—within its walls, the home has hosted more than its share of spectral rumors. Visitors have reported flickering lights, whispering voices, and eerie music with no source.

During the tour, guides recount these eerie accounts with theatrical flair. Each room becomes a scene in a ghostly narrative—complete with flickering candles, vintage furnishings, and unsettling echoes. Whether you believe in spirits or not, the storytelling alone is enough to leave you with goosebumps.

An Experience Designed to Haunt (In the Best Way)

Unlike typical haunted attractions, “Whispers in the Walls” is rooted in history. That connection to real events, real people, and a real house gives the experience emotional depth. This isn’t just a performance—it’s a portal to the past, with docents guiding guests through actual rooms where stories unfolded.

Timed entries allow for intimate group sizes, ensuring the house’s creaks and sighs aren’t drowned out. You’ll feel the weight of every pause, every whisper, every turn of the doorknob.

Tickets are limited, and sell out every year. For those who love ghost stories, historic homes, or Halloween traditions with depth, this is the event to book early.

Long Beach’s Haunted Legacy Lives On

Long Beach has always had a rich—and sometimes eerie—history. With “Whispers in the Walls,” that history is felt viscerally. It’s not just an evening of entertainment—it’s an encounter with a place where the past hasn’t quite let go.

And maybe, as you walk back out into the cool night air, you’ll find yourself glancing over your shoulder, just once more.
