Long Beach Comic Con is back September 5–6, and this year the spotlight is shifting toward the people who actually make the art. Under new ownership by Nerd Street, the convention is putting comics, indie creators, cosplay, and hands-on creativity back at the center of the experience. One of the biggest changes is a full ban on AI-generated artwork in Artist Alley, giving fans a chance to connect directly with artists and support work created by human hands. Add costumes, small presses, local creators, and a packed Convention Center floor, and this Labor Day weekend could feel like a fresh start for Long Beach Comic Con.

Love jalapeños? A massive multi-state recall is putting fresh peppers in the spotlight after a Salmonella Javiana outbreak was linked to 431 illnesses and 57 hospitalizations.
