The Diner Where Dogs Flop, Coffee Flows, and Breakfast Still Feels Like Home

The Diner Where Dogs Flop, Coffee Flows, and Breakfast Still Feels Like Home
Where the mornings are slow, and the city’s just getting started.

My Pup’s Morning Favorite Is “Sunny Side Up”

Some breakfast spots earn five stars. Others earn loyalty—especially from the ones with paws.

At Eggs Etc., the patio’s shaded, the food hits fast, and the sidewalk out front is just cool enough for your dog to flop belly-up while you wait on your order. That’s how my morning started—with a strong cup of coffee and the Hungry Man Meal. Eggs, sausage, potatoes, and a pancake the size of a Frisbee.

This isn’t a brunch scene. It’s a morning place—open till 2 PM, sure, but best experienced early, when the regulars know which tables get the best light and the coffee refills land without asking.

Eggs Etc. doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel. Since 1977, it’s just served comfort food with no extra fuss. A refreshed sign and a few new plants out front give it a shine—but the charm is still in the rhythm: show up, sit down, eat well, come back.

And if your dog stretches out like they own the place? They kind of do.
